Is your child hungry? Take a snack break and come back to practice.
Is your child tired? Consider changing the schedule for regular practice time.
Are your child's fingernails trimmed short? It's hard to practice when your hands are slip-sliding all over the keys because your nails are in the way.
Next, consider these:
Can your child see the music well? Is there adequate lighting at the piano? Have you had your child's eyes tested by an optometrist in the last year?
Is there noise in the house that is causing distraction? Some children are more sensitive than others to ambient noises like dishwashers and air conditioners. Most children are easily distracted by television, radio, and loud conversations.
